CONCEPT AND DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Design ideas where 1st developed from the inferences which was produced after doing site analysis or rather it was developed as an solution for the problems which the site had , which where, 1. HOT AND HUMID CLIMATE. 2. FLOOD PRONE AREA. 3. NIOSE PRONE AREA. 4. COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBOURHOOD. 5. EXISTING TREES.
Design solutions where- PASSIVE COOLING TECHNIQUE for hot and humid climate and FLOOD RESISTANCY TECHNIQUE for flood prone area.
Passive cooling technique consisted of few essential factors like mutual shading , cross ventilation, over hangings, orientation.
flood resistancy involved slit construction technique, using flood prone materials , having storage spaces or sacrificial basement for the flood prone area.

CIRCULATION AND INTERACTIVE SPACES
The main axis for the site is from the western side main road and axis is divided diagonally into 3 directions which lead to 3main block that is educational and research center block and accomdation block.the main axis which are diagonal can be used by both pedestrians and the service vehicles. The pathways between the blocks are meant for oedestrians only which connects each block to one anaother. The blocks are equipped with interactive spaces at the corner of each smaller blocks which act as a node or space for interaction . The students in their free time rather than interacting in front of class and creating noise, they can come and have their free time in these corners and as well as in the betwwen green spaces.
MUTUAL SHADING AND CROSS VENTILATION
Design development started with the staggered shape which where developed according to the passive cooling technique. Later each of the shapes where cut from inside providing corridors, which provided shade from the harsh sunlight in alll directions. The second phase include splitting and staggering of each shape for the cross ventilation.

SITE ANALYSIS

The site was choosen in kumaripalem vijyawada , Andhra Pradesh.Acoording to the studies AP is the 2nd highest state where maximum number of times the flood has occured , after orissa and in AP krishna river is highly prone to flood. During site selection , few points where recommended like the site should not be very near to the krsihna river, it should be at aelevation slope and along the main roads. The site is 1.5km away from the krsihna river and has NH65 which towards its southern side which will connect to the vijyawad western raiway sation, and two main roads along the western and northern side. the site i surrounded by commercial spaces along its eastern and western side whereas it has residential along its noethern side. The site elevated from the river at an height of 4m.The site has many trees with large canopies which can be used as shading material.
